Leaving Metz was difficult as we had to ride on sidewalks and some times on very busy roads requiring maneuvering through tight quarters. On the way out of town we stopped at the German Gate a magnificent ruin.
Later when we were riding through a village we went by an elementary school where the kids where having recess. Kids came to fence to see us, but they did not speak English. Teacher came over and she spoke English. She had one student that was from California who came over and chatted with us.
Lunch was awesome. Simple to order; they were just offering one item. That included a salad and the entrée was braised chicken leg and scalloped potatoes that included carrots. Really enjoyed the other customers in the restaurants even through there were a language problem.
Arrived in Thionville our over night city in the late afternoon. Beautiful town on the Mosel River. Our hotel was on a steep hillside overlooking the city. The hotel was above awesome with great views of the city.
